Weekend Entertainment | Going to the Mat at Covelli Centre

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Road to Wrestlemania goes through Youngstown this weekend.

On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the WWE will return to Covelli Centre for the first time in about two years with its Road to Wrestlemania tour.

Leading the card will Ronda Rousey, the reigning Women’s Royal Rumble winner.

The lineup also includes Big E, Kofi Kingston and Drew McIntyre battling Roman Reigns and Smackdown tag team champs The Usos.

There’s more, including Smackdown women’s champ Charlotte Flair vs. Naomi.

Tickets range from $118 to $23 (plus applicable fees) and are available at the Covelli box office and HERE.

If that isn’t the kind of trouble in River City that you’re looking for, Youngstown State University Theatre will present the concert version of “The Music Man” this weekend. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford Theater, which is on the lower level of Bliss Hall, on the YSU campus.

Unlike most shows presented by YSU, “The Music Man” is a one-weekend run.

The concert version, by the way, is a bit different than the traditional performance. A live ensemble will be on stage, and a small cast will present the scenes in stripped-down fashion. The goal is to put the emphasis on the landmark musical’s great score.

The Duquesne University Tamburitzans have been bringing their lively Eastern European folk music and dance show to Youngstown at least as long as the WWE has been stopping by.

The Tammies will return on Sunday for a 3 p.m. performance at Ford Family Recital Hall, in the DeYor Performing Arts Center, downtown. For ticket information, click HERE.
