Weekend Entertainment | Good Golly Miss Molly, Samantha Fish Is Back
Samantha Fish has played the Mahoning Valley a bunch of times, but her next appearance seems special.
The sizzling blues guitarist-singer and her band will headline an 8 p.m. Friday concert at the Robins Theatre and will be joined on stage by the legendary Mitch Ryder (“Devil With a Blue Dress On-Good Golly Miss Molly”).
The concert, which is part of the Ruf Records 30th anniversary tour, will also feature opening acts Canned Heat and Ghalia Volt.
Tickets range from $65 to $35 (plus applicable fees) and are selling strong at RobinsTheatre.com and the box office, 160 E. Market St., Warren.
Fish – who is one of the biggest contemporary blues acts – started her career on Ruf Records, which gave her the creative freedom to grow.
Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels were a popular blues and rock act in the 1960s who have influenced scores of rockers over the decades.
The influential Canned Heat is currently touring in support of its new Ruf Records release, “Finyl Vinyl.” Its lineup features original member Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra, as well as Dale Spaulding, Rick Reed and Jimmy Vivino. You might remember some of Canned Heat’s hits: “Going Up the Country,” “Let’s Work Together” and “On the Road Again.”
To kick off the evening, Ruf Records’ rising star Ghalia Volt will bring her one-woman band to the stage.
