Weekend Entertainment | Jazz in the Park and a Country Concert
If you have never been to a Jazz in the Park series concert, this would be a good weekend to start.
That’s because Arielle Green-Hall is the guest vocalist. The multitalented Youngstown native has an exquisite voice and an impressive résumé of singing backup with Grammy-winners such as The Gaither Vocal Band, Chantae Cann and Chrisette Michele. You might have also seen her in Opera Western Reserve’s 2018 production of “Porgy and Bess,” “The Youngstown Playhouse’s “Dreamgirls” (2019) or the DeYor’s “The Color Purple” (2021).
Jazz in the Park is free and takes place at 3 p.m. Sunday in Wick Park on Youngstown’s North Side. Click HERE.
The Warren Italian-American Festival starts at 4 p.m. today on Courthouse Square and runs through Sunday (free, but there is a $3 suggested donation). The festival ends at 11 p.m. each night. For information, click HERE.
The Shaker Woods summer festival takes place Saturday and Sunday, and also the two weekends that follow. If you’ve never been to the fest, it’s really an artisanal merchandise sale, set in a wooded “village” with the crafters in period costume demonstrating their skill. Definitely worth checking out. There will be many unique food vendors, too, as well as live entertainment.
Admission is $10 per day (free for children under age 12). Parking is free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Shaker Woods grounds are at 44337 County Line Road, just off state Route 7, Columbiana. For information, click HERE.
