Weekend Entertainment | Mavericks, Ace Frehley in Warren Venues Tonight

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Beloved Latino country-folk act The Mavericks will be at Packard Music Hall in Warren at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

The Mavericks are not the type of band we usually see in the Mahoning Valley, which makes this an opportunity that is worth exploiting.

The Grammy Award-winning band, led by Raul Malo, has been around for more than three decades. Describing the scope of their musical output requires a lot of adjectives, so let’s quote from their press materials instead:

“The songs are as diverse as Latin America itself, and as cohesive as the ideal of the American melting pot. To season this rich musical paella, The Mavericks add their signature country/rock/Tex-Mex flavors and a refreshing spontaneity to the mix.”

Doesn’t that sound delicious?

Tickets range from $78 to $32.75. Click HERE.

That’s not the only show in Warren tonight.

Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley will be at the Robins Theatre for an 8 p.m. concert.

The last time Frehley visited our neck of the woods was just seven months ago, when he was the opening act for Alice Cooper at The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre.

He will be the headliner tonight at the Robins.

If the previous concert is any indication, fans should expect to hear plenty of KISS classics as well as Frehley’s own stuff, including “New York Groove.”

The community theater season is winding down, but there are a few productions left.

They include “Puffs, Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.”

That’s not the most easy-to-remember name, but it offers a taste of what to expect from this “Harry Potter” spoof that opens Friday at Youngstown State University Theatre.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday, at Ford Theater, lower level of Bliss Hall, on the YSU campus. For information, click HERE.

Tickets are $16; click HERE.

A stunning exhibition of art by some of the world’s greatest painters opens Sunday at The Butler Institute of American Art.

“Selections from the Private Collection of David M. and Cecile Draime” includes works by Picasso, Valdes, Chagall and other giants of the art world.
