Weekend Entertainment | Some Grandstanding at the Canfield Fair

“If you want to get to know me, just put on my albums and listen to them front to back,” says country star Brantley Gilbert. “You’ll have a pretty good idea of who I am and where I stand.”

Gilbert was speaking on a sizzle reel touting his upcoming album, “Tattoos,” which is due out Sept. 13.

Before then, he’ll make another appearance in the Mahoning Valley when he headlines a Sunday concert at the grandstand of the Canfield Fair.

The title cut off the upcoming album hints at another way to get to know the artist: Study his tattoos.

Gilbert has literally made himself an open book with the tattoos he has had done, and which cover most of his body. Each one tells a story of a facet of his life, and they also give him an outlet for starting a conversation.

“People get ’em for a lot of reasons, but for most of us, tattoos talk about our victories and losses, our struggles and the whole nine,” Gilbert said in a press statement.

Sunday’s concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and includes opening act Sadie Bass. Tickets start at $39.50; click HERE.

The Canfield Fair will close Monday night with a concert featuring headliner Daughtry, plus Buckcherry and Hinder.

As with the Gilbert show, the audience will be very familiar with this trio of veteran hard-rock acts.

Not only are they road warriors and dependable live acts, but they’ve also got new material on the way and will unveil at least a few songs during their sets Monday.

Daughtry, who rose to fame after his 2006 stint on “American Idol,” will release an EP titled “Shock to the System (Part One)” on Sept. 27.

Buckcherry released its latest album, “Vol. 10,” last year, which spawned the singles “Good Time” and “Let’s Get Wild.”

But I’m thinking there will also be some nostalgia in the air, as all three bands have at least one  timeless rock classic: “It’s Not Over” (Daughtry), “Crazy B—-” (Buckcherry) and “Lips of an Angel” (Hinder).

Tickets for the 7 p.m. concert start at $39.50. Click HERE.
