Weekend Entertainment | Start Your Engines – and Drive Slowly

In an area known for its many summer festivals, the Salem Super Cruise stands out.

Based on our shared love of car culture, it might be the Mahoning Valley’s most unique festival.

The Super Cruise returns today and runs through Sunday throughout downtown Salem.

The signature of the event is the nightly cruise of muscle cars, hot rods, antique vehicles and motorcycles down State Street and other downtown thoroughfares. It’s a car show on wheels, with some live music and festival food thrown in.

Cruise into Salem and join the parade if you have a vehicle worth showing off. Or just park your car and watch.

There’s an added attraction. If you haven’t been to downtown Salem in a couple of years, you might also be surprised to see how vibrant it has become.

We’ll also pay tribute to tribute bands this weekend with no fewer than four concerts.

Fleetwood Gold (Fleetwood Mac tribute) will be at Ford Family Recital Hall in downtown Youngstown at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Click HERE for tickets.

At Eastwood Field in Niles, Fresh Horses (Garth Brooks and Toby Keith) will take the stage (which will be set up on the field) at 7 p.m. Friday night. Then on Saturday, it will be The Magic of Motown (The Temptations, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, etc.) at 6 p.m. Click HERE.

Also on Saturday, the River Rock at the Amp concert series begins with 7 Bridges (The Eagles) and opening act Huckin Fillbillies. Music starts at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $10 at the gate.
