Weekend Entertainment | The Usual, Times Four
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – In July, the Mahoning and Shenango valleys have more festivals per capita than any other region in the country.
Just kidding. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it’s believable.
The fact is, there are four festivals this weekend.
The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Festival on the edge of downtown Youngstown starts today and runs through Sunday.
The Warren Greek Fest at St. Demetrios church grounds also runs through Sunday.
The Cortland Community Street Fair is going on today through Saturday.
Last, but definitely not least, WaterFire Sharon is Saturday.
A little further afield, Summerfest will take place Saturday and Sunday at Conneaut Lake Park, and the Wine and Walleye Festival is Friday through Sunday on Bridge Street in Ashtabula harbor.
In other action, the legendary Lynyrd Skynrd returns to the Valley for a Friday concert at Covelli Centre, with the not-quite-legendary Marshall Tucker Band in the opening slot.
At the Warren Community Amphitheatre, King’s Highway (a Tom Petty tribute show) will headline a show that will get underway around 5:30 p.m. with opening act Brass Metropolis.
The Scrappers will have home games all weekend at Eastwood Field, where they will host State College, Pa., in MLB Draft League action. Disney Channel star Issac Ryan Brown will make a guest appearance Saturday.
On area stages, Kent-Trumbull Theater in Champion is presenting the rock musical “Rent” tonight through Sunday.
For children, the Mini Pop Kids touring music shows stops at the Robins Theatre in Warren at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Did we forget anything? Oh yeah, the National Packard Museum’s annual Corvettes and Classics car show is Saturday in Warren.
And to find out what is going on around the area at any time, check out The List, our calendar of events.
