Westminster Junior Earns State Recognition in Sports Management
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – A Westminster College junior recently earned the outstanding research award for her undergraduate research presented at the Pennsylvania Sports Business Conference.
Riley Lewis, a double major in sports management and broadcasting and sports communication from Clinton, Pa., partnered with Dr. Robert Zullo, associate professor in the Westminster School of Business, on research that explored the issues surrounding women who work in football operations in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision schools.
Lewis and Zullo surveyed women at Group of Five and Power Five schools, as well as female leaders in the industry at the University of Virginia, Liberty University and the University of South Carolina.
“Lewis is an invaluable asset to the Westminster College athletic department – especially the football program,” said Zullo. “She loves learning and welcomes feedback from others and is always eager to keep elevating her standards.”
Lewis is now the fifth Westminster student to be recognized at the state conference. Baylee Horvath was recognized in 2022, Tyler Barnot and Ricky Roth in 2020 and Chelsea Gregley in 2018.
This year’s conference, “The Power of Networking: Connecting the World Through Sports,” was held at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and featured presentations from various individuals in the sports industry.
