Wild City Feed and Seed Opens in Salem
SALEM, Ohio – Wild City Feed and Seed, 119 S. Broadway Ave., downtown, will have its grand opening celebration Saturday, June 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The pet supply store is owned by Kevin Shaffer, Bill Faith and Thomas Scheetz.
Shaffer, of Salem, recently retired and was looking for something to do.
“After doing research and talking to members of the community, I recognized the need for a feed store, especially after Birds Unlimited closed due to Covid-19,” he said.
Wild City Feed and Seed’s primary focus is birds and squirrels. “We try to keep everything different and new, while at the same time maintaining the essentials,” Shaffer said. The store offers 100% local food and seed for hummingbirds, cardinals and other birds, and even squirrels. It also carries whirligigs, bird baths, bird and squirrel feeders; bird, bee and butterfly houses; and garden and house flags.
Once established, Wild City Feed and Seed will also host craft days for children where they can build and paint bird houses.
The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday).
