Williamson College Offers ‘Internship Interview Days’

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Tomorrow marks the first of four “Internship Interview Days” hosted by Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business Administration. The events — which also will take place Feb. 19, March 18 and March 25, are designed for employers who are interested in hiring YSU students as interns.

“Securing an internship during college is one of the best ways to become a more marketable full-time job candidate,” said Christina Costello, associate coordinator of the WCBA Undergraduate Student Services’ Office of Professional Practice.

Over the past year, 193 business students participated in the WCBA internship program, an increase of 43%, Costello said.

The internships are often short-term, career-related opportunities that allow students to earn college credits and be paid. Students gain hands-on career experience in their major areas of study, which enhances their professional resume and makes them more marketable.

“Our goal is to make it easy for our students to get exposure to potential employers so they can increase their chances of landing an internship and, later on, a job. Appointments for interviews can also be arranged on campus at the employer’s convenience.”

Business students must be in junior standing or higher and meet specific prerequisites to qualify for internship status. Majors of study within the Wiliamson College include: accounting, advertising/public relations, business administration, business economics, finance, human resource management, information and supply chain management, international business, and marketing as well as those pursuing certificates in nonprofit leadership, enterprise resource planning, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Employers interested in hiring interns for the summer and fall semester should contact Costello at 330- 941- 1884 or clcostello01@ysu.edu as soon as possible to allow time to review resumes and select interviewees. Organizations can interview up to nine students in one day.
