Women in Business: Mary O. Dennis, AIA

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Mary O. Dennis became a registered architect in 1992, and joined BSHM Architects in 2001. She recently became an associate with the firm.

Mary is the past-president of AIA Eastern Ohio Chapter (now AIA Youngstown).

She has served as project architect on a variety of BSHM projects. Among them are Niles McKinley High School and Champion’s new PK-8 School. And she is currently serving as project architect on Berkshire’s new PK-12 school. Locally, her experience includes the Seventh District Court of Appeals, YWCA, and facade restoration at DeYor Performing Arts Center.

Mary’s work on the Newton Falls 3-6 Elementary School was recognized with the 2005 Ohio International Masonry Institute’s Golden Trowel Award for Best in Category – Education. Several of her other projects have been recognized by the Eastern Ohio AIA and local historical society chapters.

Mary has served on Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority Board for five years.

She maintains a strong mentorship role for young architects in the firm.
