Women in Business: Megan Vickers
GIRARD, Ohio – Megan Vickers is the President of Soft Touch Furniture, a Girard mainstay for more than 40 years. She is a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley, having graduated from Liberty High School and Kent State University. Megan began working at her family’s business when she was a teenager and is well-poised to lead the company into the future.
Community is important to Megan and her husband, Jeffrey Vickers. She serves on three area boards — the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, the Akiva Academy, and the Temple El Emeth. She also serves on the board of the Girard/Liberty Rotary, where her service earned her the Paul Harris Fellow award. In addition, she is active on the Girard Schools PTO, where her eight-year-old twins attend school.
Besides being a long-term area employer, Soft Touch Furniture is known for its charity work, which Megan spearheads. Soft Touch is a prolific contributor to Panerathon/Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center, Alex’s Lemonade Stand and the Dan Marino Foundation for Autism. Megan is also a member of the Upholstery Association, and continually works to make both her company and the community a better place.
