Women in Business: Rona Curtis

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Rona Curtis’ ardent passion and advocacy for children and families has led to tremendous achievements throughout her social services career that spans 40 years.

In 2017, Rona was named Assistant Director of Mahoning County Children Services. She coordinates the development, planning, implementation and monitoring of direct service programs; operational policies and procedures; and provides oversight for agency accreditation. She has led the charge advocating for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for underrepresented populations.

In 1985, Rona began her child welfare career as a Mahoning County Children Services Caseworker. In 1987, she was promoted into supervision. In 2011, she was selected as Program Administrator for the Family Services Department.

Rona serves on several community advisory boards enabling her to expand her advocacy efforts. A lifelong member of Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church, she was the first female to chair its Board of Trustees. Rona earned a B.A. and M.S. in education from Youngstown State University. She is a proud Ursuline High School graduate.
