WRPA Hires Trevena for Development Post
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Western Reserve Port Authority has hired Anthony Trevena, former chief of staff to former U.S. Rep. John Boccieri, as director of economic development, the executive director of the port authority confirmed today.
Trevena was one of the two finalists for the executive director’s position earlier this year. The port authority board of directors hired John Moliterno, who had been serving as interim executive director since last year.
Trevena, who recently operated a fine-dining restaurant in Ormond Beach, Fla., has also served as vice president of sales and marketing at the Better Business Bureau of Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull Counties and as chief of staff for former U.S. Rep. John Boccieri. In addition, Trevina was deputy director of administration at the Ohio Department of Natural resources.
He has a master’s degree in business administration from Youngstown State University.
“Now that I’ve returned to the Mahoning Valley, I’m very excited to be involved again in helping the area live up to its full economic potential,” Trevena said in a statement.
Trevena will focus on extending the reach of the port authority, “making new and existing companies aware of the advantages of building their businesses here, and ultimately create jobs,” Moliterno said.
Sarah Lown, port authority senior manager for economic development, is “doing a great job, particularly in the area of helping businesses to secure grants and access development capital,” Moliterno noted, and the port authority wants to expand her role in that area and others.
“I’ve worked with Anthony in the past and I’m excited to be working with him again on the same team,” Lown said in the statement.
