WRTA Announces Winners of Art on the Move Campaign

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Artwork from nine local artists will soon be on the move.

Ninety artists registered to have their artwork featured in the Western Reserve Transit Authority’s Art on the Move Campaign. The nine winners who were chosen are Gary Balog, Nicholas Begnaud, Kendra Blake, Michael Flood, Daniel Madeline, Laura Marciella, Ron Moore, Gabriel Pagan and Leah Sydney.

The artwork of the nine winners will be featured on a giant mural on the side of a WRTA bus. They also will receive a $100 Visa gift card, and their individual artwork will be highlighted in TV spots, social media and on the digital display at Federal Station downtown.

The artwork on the side of the WRTA bus will be unveiled and the winning artists will be recognized at a special outdoor event at DeBartolo Commons at Southern Park Mall at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 24.

“There are so many talented artists in the Valley,” said Dean Harris, WRTA executive director. “We wanted to highlight their skill, as well as their unique perspective.”

The co-chairpersons of the campaign who also served as judges to select the winning nine entries are Joyce Mistovich, director of education for The Butler Institute of American Art; Patrick McGlone, owner and artist of The Overall Paint Co.; and Kevin Willis, principal architect at Strollo Architects LLC.
