WRTA Appoints Harris as Executive Director

The board of trustees for the  Western Reserve Transit Authority has named Dean J. Harris as the agency’s new executive director. His will begin his new position Oct. 17. Most recently, Harris was a senior finance specialist for the Ohio Risk Transit Pool. Before that, he was director of finance and assistant secretary/treasurer of Akron’s Metro Regional Transit Authority, a position he held since June 1997. Harris’ career with the Akron agency dates to 1989, when he joined as a financial administrator. He also worked as an inventory and quality control manager and an accountant. He holds a B.S. in accounting from the University of Akron and is a certified public accountant. Last year, he was presented with Ohio Public Transit’s Leonard Ronis Transit Person of the Year Award.
