WRTA Begins Search to Replace Executive Director

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The longtime executive director of the Western Reserve Transit Authority, James Ferraro, has retired and a nationwide search has begun to fill his position.

Ferrraro, executive director since 1984, had been working since 2012 on a series on one-year renewable contracts. He had expressed his intention to retire, but agreed to stay on through the campaign for WRTAs sales tax renewal issue, which passed in November.

The search for his replacement is being conducted by S. Renée Narloch & Associates, an executive recruitment firm based in Florida.

After engaging the firm, the WRTA Board of Directors agreed April 26 to release Ferraro from his contract, and appointed Marianne Vaughn, secretary treasurer/director of finance, as interim executive director. She will serve in that capacity until the search has been completed and a new executive director is chosen.
