WRTA Expands Routes, Operation Hours
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Beginning Sept. 3, the Western Reserve Transit Authority will launch new initiatives to improve service, including more trips to Warren, hourly routes on the Boardman/Canfield Loop and extended operation hours.
All WRTA buses will begin their daily routes at roughly 5 a.m. and run until about 7 p.m. Times for Niteline routes will continue to begin at 7 p.m. Meanwhile the Warren Express routes will have two additional runs, leaving Federal Station in downtown Youngstown at 5:40 a.m. and 5:40 p.m.
In addition, Route 25 Boardman/Canfield Loop will now be an hourly service and select runs will go to the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center.
With the new adult day passes, available for $3 from bus drivers and the Federal Street station downtown, WRTA passengers can ride as many buses as needed. Discounted passes, $1.50 each, are available for seniors and people with disabilities.
The service’s Route 24 will be extended to run from East Midlothian Boulevard and Hillman Way to the Boardman Walmart via U.S. Route 224. The change brings the route closer to Poland, eliminating the need for some riders to transfer at Federal Station.
