WRTA Launches On Demand App for Late Night Service

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Western Reserve Transit Authority has rolled out a new app to assist Late Night service users.

The On Demand app, which is available at the Apple Store and Google Play, allows Late Night service users to register for and schedule Late Night service. Once a ride is scheduled, it can be tracked through the app.

WRTA Late Night is a shared-ride scheduled service that goes “curb-to-curb” from 9:15 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday. Instead of being picked up or dropped off at a bus stop, those who use the service will be picked up and dropped off at any address or location within Mahoning County’s fixed-route service area.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for those who must travel in the evening,” said Dean Harris, executive director of WRTA. “Using the On Demand app for Late Night is kind of like using the Uber app, except for a couple key differences: First, WRTA Late Night is a shared-ride service. And second, it’s free – no fare is required to use it.”
