WRTA Names Harris New Executive Director

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The board of trustees for the Western Reserve Transit Authority has named Dean J. Harris as the agency’s new executive director. His tenure will begin Oct. 17.

Most recently, Harris was a senior finance specialist for the Ohio Risk Transit Pool, where he had worked since February 2017. Prior to that, he was director of finance and assistant secretary/treasurer of Akron’s Metro Regional Transit Authority, a position he held since June 1997.

Harris’ career with the Akron agency dates to 1989, when he joined as a financial administrator. He also worked as an inventory and quality control manager and an accountant.

He holds a baccalaureate in accounting from the University of Akron and is a certified public accountant. He is treasurer of Leadership Medina County and was previously a board member of the Medina County Port Authority. Last year, he was presented with Ohio Public Transit’s Leonard Ronis Transit Person of the Year Award.
