WRTA’s Akron Express to End Service March 11
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Western Reserve Transit Authority announced Tuesday that it would discontinue its Akron Express route effective March 11.
The transit authority said it made the decision to cancel the route, known as Route #81, because of low demand and ridership.
The Akron Express ran Monday through Friday, leaving Federal Station at 10:40 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. each day. The route was mainly designed to help veterans get to the VA hospital in Cleveland.
The route was launched in December 2022, but ridership never materialized, WRTA said in a release.
“It appeared the demand for the route was too low to justify continuing service,” the transit authority said.
Riders with questions can contact WRTA at 330 744 8431.
