YMCA Partners with Cavs for Junior Basketball League

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The YMCA of Youngstown and the Cleveland Cavaliers have joined to bring the Junior Cavs Basketball League to the Mahoning Valley. The program is open to boys and girls ages five to 15.

Practices and games for the league will be held on Saturdays between May 6 and June 17. Each practice session and game will be an hour long.

In addition to the league, those playing in the league will receive a Cavs ticket voucher, a Junior Cavs jersey, family ticket discounts and access to instructional videos on Cavs.com. The Cavaliers will host a coaching clinic for all YMCA of Youngstown coaches.

“We are thrilled about this partnership with the world champion Cleveland Cavaliers and are looking forward to working closely with the Cavs to strengthen our community through youth development,” said YMCA President and CEO Thomas Gacse in a release. “Together our focus will be to provide youths of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels, the best opportunities to learn what it takes to win both on and off the court.”

Registration costs $65 for YMCA members and $90 for program members. The deadline to avoid a $10 late fee is April 29. Registration can be completed online at YoungtownYMCA.org by choosing the appropriate age group. For more information, contact Erin Burnick at eburnick@youngstownymca.org.
