YNDC Seeks Funds for ‘Blight-Fighting’ Center Renovations
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. launched an online fundraising campaign to raise the final $10,000 for construction and rehabilitation work at its construction and flight-fighting center.
The 2-acre site will serve as a base of operations for YNDC’s efforts to fight blight by boarding up, cleaning up and rehabilitating vacant properties throughout the city, according to a news release announcing the campaign. It is located at 45 Oneta St.
Information about the project and an online donation tool is available at this link.
The center will provide a location where YNDC can:
- Cut and paint boards to board up vacant houses on a greater scale than YNDC has been able to accomplish previously
- Safely store bulk building materials to cut costs and increase the number of properties YNDC can rehabilitate each year
- Perform routine maintenance on its vehicles and equipment such as oil changes, filter replacements, tune-ups and other repairs that can be performed by YNDC personnel.
“Most importantly, it will further our ability to attack blight at scale,” Ian Benistron, executive director, said in the email.
