Youngstown Area Jewish Federation Receives $36K Security Grant

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation received a $36,000 early childhood security grant from The Tepper Foundation through Jewish Federations of North America.

The grants are awarded for the hiring of security personnel to protect preschools, day camps and after-school programs, as well as supporting other faith communities’ security needs.

“We’re committed to creating safe spaces for our children and sharing our security expertise with other faith-based organizations,” said Bonnie Deutsch Burdman, executive director of community relations and government affairs at the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation. “Together, we will build a stronger community for all.”

The Tepper Foundation’s current round of grants totaled $9 million and was awarded to 76 organizations across 30 states, with a requirement that they be a recipient of Jewish Federations’ LiveSecure funding.

“Right now, nothing is more important than protecting our children and giving them a safe environment where they can learn, grow and thrive as people,” said Julie Platt, Jewish Federations of North America chair. “We’re thrilled that the Tepper Foundation continues on this journey with us during such difficult times.”
