Youngstown Foundation Awards $1.25M in Grants

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Foundation has awarded $1.25 million in grants to area nonprofits in the third quarter.

More than $238,000 was given to fund COVID-19 relief efforts. The funding was made in collaboration with other local foundation through a unified application process. Since March, The Youngstown Foundation has awarded more than $700,000 to 120-plus area agencies.

As part of its regular funding cycle, the foundation awarded grants to five agencies from its unrestricted fund:

  • Meridian Healthcare $50,000.
  • Youngstown CityScape, $50,000.
  • Beatitude House, $42,500.
  • Junior Achievement, $25,000.
  • Ohio Urban Renaissance, $20,000.

The Hine Memorial Fund awarded grants to three organizations: $346,000 to Potential Development and its Operation Search & Help program, $62,200 to Students Motivated by the Arts and $23,375 to Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries.

In addition, the Mahoning Valley Sports Charity Fund awarded $5,000 to Girl Scouts of North East Ohio and $400,000 was awarded through the foundation’s Support Fund, which allows anyone donating at least $100 to choose which of 70 approved organizations the funds will go to.

Donor-advised funds also distributed more than $100,000 in third-quarter grants.
