Youngstown Sends Default Notice to Chill Can
Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown held a press conference today to announce that the city has sent a letter to M.J. Joseph Development Corp., notifying the business it’s in violation of enterprise zone and grant agreements.
The letter states the company “violated its obligations” by failing to create jobs in return for tax incentives and a grant of $1.5 million. According to the letter, the business should have hired a minimum of 150 full-time employees by now for its Chill-Can plant.
Brown said M.J. Joseph Development Corp. has 60 days to rectify the violations. The city plans to take legal action should the noncompliance continue.
