YSU’s Ads Club Places at National Competition

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University’s Ads Club, a collegiate chapter of the American Advertising Federation, placed third at the 2017 National Student Advertising, District 5 Regional Competition held in Lexington, Ky.

This year’s team, John Green, Abby Harris, Jake Cole and Adam Nye, is the first team to place in YSU’s Ads Club’s history.

The team also received an award for “Best Media Plan” for their strategy and analysis of media platforms they developed for this year’s client, Taipei Frozen foods. The team members who constructed the media plan were Jake Cole and Emily Lampe with help from Ray Klempay, Natalie Agnone and Abby Harris.

“This competition is as close to a real world advertising pitch, as it is going to get,” said John Green, president of Ads Club.

The National Student Advertising Competition is the premier college advertising competition in the U.S., providing more than 2,000 college students the real-world experience of creating a strategic advertising/marketing/media campaign for a corporate client.
