YSU Alumni Magazine Wins National Award
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University’s alumni magazine was presented with the Silver Award at the 2016 Collegiate Advertising Awards competition.
YSU Magazine – A Magazine for Alumni and Friends is published biannually by the university’s Office of Marketing and Communications and has won national awards twice in the past three years, beating out other universities with enrollment between 10,000 and 20,000 students.
Papers are judged on their creativity, design, production quality, message effectiveness and overall appeal. More than 900 entries were submitted for this year’s awards.
The winning issue featured a cover story, titled “Entrepreneurial Spirit, Penguin Style,” profiling 10 alumni who started their own businesses.
Those profiled were Roxanne Hauldren, founder of Shop With Rox; Toni McKay, founder of StarBound Entertainment; and Tom and Katie Phibbs, founders of The Lettuce People; HaSheen Wilson, founder of Crawling to Destiny Preschool and Learning Center; Ryan Alter, creator of Automated Bear Trap; Career Path Writing Solutions founder Heidi Gusto; and JuggerBot 3D founders James D’Andrea, Zacahary DiVencenzo and Dan Fernback.
