YSU Competition Helps HS Students Explore Engineering Careers
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – High school students from Mahoning and Trumbull counties gathered at Youngstown State University to compete in a miniature bridge building competition.
In addition to designing bridges and winning prizes, the goal of the competition is to help students explore careers in engineering and interact with county engineers, engineering consultants and YSU staff.
“Hopefully, some of them will pursue a field in engineering,” says Joseph Cicchillo, engineer technician for Trumbull County. “Whether it be civil, mechanical – any of the engineering fields develops that thinking and mindset early on.”
