YSU Football Team Takes Pride in Representing Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Within the locker room of the Youngstown State University football team, there’s an “unselfish hunger” throughout the roster to bring the “winning Penguin dynasty” back home, according to Beau Brungard, starting quarterback for the team.
Brungard says the entire team has a hunger to get back to a place of winning and representing the entire city.
“I think all the guys on the team who are from Youngstown, we take pride in what we do and being on this team and representing and putting on for this city,” Brungard says. “It feels good to be able to play for this team in this city.”
The YSU football team will return for its home opener at 2 p.m. Saturday against Valparaiso at Stambaugh Stadium. The matchup marks the second consecutive home opener against the Beacons. Last season, YSU grabbed its first win of the season against Valpo, 52-10.
