YSU Holds Session for Eastern Gateway Nursing Students
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Eastern Gateway Community College students in the associate degree of nursing program learned more about transitioning to Youngstown State University.
YSU recently conducted an information session for Eastern Gateway ADN students.
“Our main priority is to establish a pathway for EGCC ADN students,” said Sara Michaliszyn, associate dean of Bitonte College of Health and Human Services at YSU. “I understand why so many are feeling anxious. We are all working hard behind the scenes to develop a very simple transition into the ADN program at YSU.”
The virtual session included faculty and academic leadership from both YSU and EGCC, as well as YSU admissions and advising representatives. More than 200 students participated in the session, which highlighted the alignment of curricula, personalized advising and support services to ensure a smooth educational journey for EGCC students transferring to YSU.
“What we know now is not only will the students’ curriculum continue without a delay in graduation, but that the EGCC ADN students located in Steubenville will be able to continue their education at Steubenville,” said Dana Meadows, director of the Eastern Gateway ADN program.
YSU also announced plans for an orientation later this month or in early April to provide additional resources and information to EGCC ADN students.
Interim Provost Jennifer Pintar reiterated YSU’s commitment to supporting transferring students.
“Our academic leadership, faculty and staff across campus are working diligently to ensure that students transferring from EGCC will have access to advisers, enrollment staff and faculty within their programs to address any questions or concerns about the pathway being established,” Pintar said.
EGCC students who wish to transfer to YSU should visit explore.ysu.edu/egcc, call 330 941 2000 or email [email protected].
