YSU Lecture Series Features Star-Studded Slate, Begins Oct. 7
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University’s 2021-22 Lecture Series begins Oct. 7 with the Skeggs Lecture Series, featuring Cleveland chef Michael Symon.
All lectures in the series are held at Stambuagh Auditorium and begin at 7 p.m. Tickets, limited to four per person, are free and available on a first come-first served basis at StambaughAuditorium.com, by calling 330 941 2136 or by emailing [email protected].
Symon owns and is the head chef at several restaurants in the Cleveland area, as well as Detroit and Atlantic city. He’s a regular on several Food Network shows and has appeared in several magazines.
On Oct. 20, the Thomas Colloquium on Free Entreprise will feature Netflix chief marketing officer Bozoma Saint John. With prior stops at Uber, Apple Music and Pepsi-Cola, Saint John has developed a reputation as a leader in marketing and advertising. Tickets for the event are available beginning Sept. 22.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta, the chief medical correspondent for CNN, will present the Centofanti Symposium and Skeggs Lecture on March 23. A practicing neurosurgeon, Gupta has used his medical training and public health policy experience while reporting from war zones and natural disaster sites, as well as providing information on scientific information on the ebola outbreak, brain injuries, health-care reform, fitness and military medicine. Tickets are available beginning Feb. 8.
The Lecture Series concludes April 28 with the return of Bill Nye as part of the Skeggs Lecture Series, an event rescheduled from 2020 due to the pandemic. The famed scientist was the star of “Bill Nye: The Science Guy” and currently leads the Netflix series “Bill Nye Saves the Planet.” He has also written several books. All of his work has been aimed at improving scientific literacy around the world and helping people understand and appreciate the every-day science around them.
