YSU Nursing Grads Get Medallions at Drive-Thru Ceremony
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The 89 graduates of Youngstown State University’s nursing program will receive their medallions during a drive-thru ceremony May 7.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, graduates and their families will remain in their cars for the ceremony, which will include remarks from YSU President Jim Tressel, provost Brien Smith, Bitonte College of Health and Human Service dean Tammy King and nursing department chairwoman Nancy Wagner.
The students will officially graduate Saturday at YSU’s virtual commencement ceremony.
Since 2009, the YSU Nursing Medallion Ceremony has been held on campus during National Nurses Week. Students receive a bronze medallions bearing the YSU seal created by Wendell August Forge, similar to historical nursing pinning ceremonies.
