YSU Research Earns Platinum Membership in America Makes
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Youngstown State University is now a platinum member of America Makes, the additive manufacturing hub based downtown.
“This is the highest membership level, and few companies and universities have achieved it,” said Mike Hripko, YSU associate vice president for research. “It is an indicator of the strength of the relationship and research involvement between YSU and America Makes.”
Hripko said membership is based on meeting the cost-share criteria and on the volume of research an organization has completed at America Makes.
In all, there are 198 members of America Makes, but only 29 at the platinum level. Others platinum members include General Electric, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Siemens and United Technologies.
America Makes was established in 2012 and is the flagship Institute for Manufacturing USA, the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation.
America Makes is managed and operated by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining and is the nation’s leading and collaborative partner in additive manufacturing and 3-D printing technology research, discovery, creation and innovation.
