YSU’s Dana School of Music to Present ‘Cosi fan Tutte’

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University will present Mozart’s opera “Così fan Tutte” this weekend in Spotlight Theater, lower level of Bliss Hall.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22; and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23.

The opera, with libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte, will be sung in Italian with supertitles and recitatives in English.

It tells of two young soldiers who accept an older friend’s wager that the women they love will not remain faithful in their absence. They return in disguise and woo each other’s fiancee with Mozart’s beautiful melodies and surprising success.

The performance of “Così fan Tutte” is double cast. On Friday and Sunday, the cast will include CJ Thompson, Emilio Santiago, Palmer Stillio, Brianne Samson, Jaelynn Mack and Justine Snowden. On Saturday, the cast will include Thompson, Santiago, Austin Angus, Amanda Bertilacci, Rachel Gardner and Chloe Downey.

Misook Yun is the director of YSU’s opera program.

The stage director/scenic designer is Susan Foster; Kathy Miller provides piano accompaniment; lighting designer is Zoe Nocera; costumer, Katherine Garlick; and theater manager, Ryan Fitzpatrick. 

General admission tickets are $8 (free for YSU students with a valid ID).
