100 Women Who Care Give $4K to Food Forest

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The 100 Women Who Care Mahoning Valley announced it awarded $4,000 to the American Food Forest.

The mission of the nonprofit is growing and caring for spaces that produce fresh food for anyone who may need it, according to a news release announcing the donation. Mason Carratt, executive director of the Food Forest, launched the concept by planting and tending abandoned plots of land in and around Youngstown, with the idea that the gardens would not only provide healthy sources of nutrition for those who may not have access, but beautify urban neighborhoods as well.

The 100 Women Who Care Mahoning Valley is a group of local female philanthropists committed to assisting charities and nonprofits within the Mahoning Valley. For more information, call Michelle Campbell Golladay at 330 831 8177.
