30th Annual Harvest for Hunger Starts Wednesday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley will kick off its 30th annual Harvest for Hunger campaign Wednesday.

This year’s event will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be streamed on the food bank’s Facebook page. The campaign, which helps stock food bank shelves, runs through April. The 2020 campaign raised $206,215 and collected more than 13,000 pounds of food.

Financial contributions of $1, $5 or $10 can be made at Giant Eagle stores as well as participating Sparkle Markets. Organizations interested in hosting their own food drive or fundraising effort can contact Julia Varner at 330 792 5522 ext. 102 or download a registration form at MahoningValleySecondHarvest.org.

Last year, Second Harvest distributed a record 15.6 million pounds, up roughly a third from the previous record set in 2019.
