Ohioans File Fewer Unemployment Claims Last Week
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 6,255 initial jobless claims during the week ended April 30 — 2,028 fewer than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
Continued unemployment claims were also down during the week, the agency reported. Ohio residents filed 36,150 continued traditional unemployment claims during the period, or 5,066 fewer claims than the previous week.
The total number of traditional claims filed from April 24 through April 30 stood at 42,405, OJFS reported.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in March was 4.1%, while the national unemployment rate in March was 3.6%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in March was 61.7% compared to the national labor force participation rate in March was 62.4%.
