Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Jump
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohioans filed 13,482 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was up from the previous week’s filings of 10,895 claims, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday morning.
State residents also filed 32,634 continued traditional unemployment claims for the week of June 19 to 25, which was down from the 33,283 posted the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, some 5,163 of those have been flagged for more stringent identity verification, to ensure they are not fraudulent.
The total number of traditional claims filed last week, was 46,116.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in May was 3.9%. The national unemployment rate in May was 3.6%.
