Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Fall
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohioans filed 12,481 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was down from the previous week’s filings of 13,482 claims, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday morning.
State residents also filed 35,010 continued traditional unemployment claims for the week of June 26 to July 2, which was up from the 32,634 posted the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, some 4,332 of those have been flagged for more stringent identity verification, to ensure they are not fraudulent.
The total number of traditional claims filed last week, was 47,491.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in May was 3.9%. The national unemployment rate in May was 3.6%.
