Ohio Weekly Jobless Claims Drop
YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO — The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported that fewer Ohioans filed initial and continued unemployment claims during the week of July 17 through July 23 compared to the previous week.
According to ODJFS, 9,254 Ohioans filed initial unemployment claims during the week of July 17 — 1,859 fewer than the previous week.
Approximately 3,159 of those have been flagged for more stringent identity verification, to ensure they are not fraudulent.
Also, Ohioans filed 35,713 continued traditional unemployment claims last week, or 2,696 fewer than the previous week, ODJFS reported. The total number of traditional claims filed from July 17 through July 23 stood at 44,967.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in June was 3.9% compared to the national unemployment rate of 3.6%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in June was 62.0%, while the national labor force participation rate in June was 62.2%.
