Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Drop
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 7,615 initial traditional unemployment claims during the week ended July 30, which was 1,639 fewer than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday morning.
Ohioans also filed 33,373 continued traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 2,340 fewer than the previous week. The total number of traditional claims filed last week was 40,988.
Of the initial traditional unemployment claims filed last week, approximately 2,770 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification, to ensure they are not fraudulent.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in June was 3.9%. The national unemployment rate in June was 3.6%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in June was 62.0%. The national labor force participation rate in June was 62.2%.
