Ohio Jobless Claims Tick Upward
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – New jobless claims filed by Ohioans during the week ended August 6 increased compared to the previous week. Continued unemployment claims also inched up during the period, according to data released Thursday from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Ohioans filed 7,891 new traditional unemployment claims last week, an increase of 276 claims filed the previous week.
Continued jobless claims stood at 33,597 for the week ended August 6, an increase of 224 claims, ODJFS said.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in June was 3.9% versus the national unemployment rate of 3.6%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in June was 62%, while the national labor force participation rate for the month stood at 62.2%.
