Ohio Jobless Claims Drop Slightly
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – New jobless claims filed by Ohioans during the week ended August 27 decreased compared to the previous week. Continued unemployment claims also dropped during the period, according to data released Thursday from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Ohioans filed 6,021 new traditional unemployment claims last week, a decrease of 289 claims filed the previous week.
Continued jobless claims stood at 29,936 for the week ended August 27, a decrease of 1,558 claims, ODJFS said.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in July was 3.9% versus the national unemployment rate of 3.5%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in July was 61.9%, while the national labor force participation rate for the month stood at 62.1%.
