Medici Art Museum to Feature Art from Seniors
CORTLAND, Ohio – The Medici Museum of Art’s newest exhibit, Building Bridges Across Age, opens Friday, Sept. 9, and will showcase more than 90 art pieces from local seniors who reside at Ohio Living Lake Vista.
An opening reception is planned at the venue from 5 to 8 p.m. with food, drinks and live entertainment provided by Clay Colley.
“We are excited to collaborate with the Medici Museum of Art on this show and provide a different perspective on aging,” said Brian Kolenich, Ohio Living Lake Vista executive director.
“Our residents have been involved in the ‘Opening Minds Through the Arts’ approach for a while now,” he continued. “It is an evidence-based art-creation program for people with dementia that is failure-free and provides participants an opportunity for self-expression and engagement. Plus, it adds ‘artist’ to our residents’ already rich life-bio. The Medici’s mission opens a venue to bring this work to the greater community, and we are very grateful for that.”
To RSVP for the opening night reception, contact Nicole Branch at 330 638 2420, ext. 1002. The Building Bridges Across Age exhibit is slated to run through Dec. 23.
