Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Inch Up
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohioans filed 6,431 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was up by 35 claims from the previous week’s filings, the Ohio Departmentt of Job and Family Services reported Thursday morning.
State residents also filed 27,854 continued traditional unemployment claims for the week of October 23 to 29, which was 567 fewer than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, some 1,936 of those have been flagged for more stringent identity verification, to ensure they are not fraudulent.
The total number of traditional claims filed last week, was 34,285.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in September was 4%. The national unemployment rate in September was 3.5%.
