Ohio Jobless Claims Rise
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – New jobless claims filed by Ohioans during the week ended November 5 rose compared to the previous week. At the same time, continued unemployment claims held steady, according to data released this morning from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Ohioans filed 7,475 new traditional unemployment claims last week, an increase of 1,044 claims filed the previous week.
Continued jobless claims stood at 28,124 for the week, an increase of 270 claims, ODJFS said.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in September was 4% compared to the national unemployment rate of 3.5%.
Ohio’s labor force participation rate in September was 61.7%, while the national labor force participation rate for the month stood at 62.3%.
