Weekly Unemployment Claims Tick Up
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohioans filed 7,664 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was up by 189 claims from the previous week’s filings, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday morning.
State residents also filed 29,173 continued traditional unemployment claims for the week of November 6 to 12, which was 1,049 more than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, some 1,479 of those have been flagged for more stringent identity verification, to ensure they are not fraudulent.
The total number of traditional claims filed last week, was 36,837.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in September was 4%. The national unemployment rate in September was 3.5%.
