OhioMeansJobs’ Career Pathway Tool Enhanced
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is announcing enhancements to OhioMeansJobs’ Career Pathway Tool, allowing users to easily explore occupations within 16 career clusters.
“Finding the right career path is an important and sometimes difficult decision,” said Matt Damschroder, ODJFS director. “Recent enhancements have made it easier for Ohioans to explore their options within fields that interest them. They also can plot the trajectory of their possible future career by identifying entry-level, intermediate and advance occupations within each cluster.”
Clusters include architecture and construction; business management and administration; health sciences; manufacturing; science, technology, engineering and mathematics; and transportation, distribution and logistics.
For instance, an individual looking at the education and training career pathway would learn about a variety of jobs in the field, including coaches and teaching assistants, childcare and preschool, elementary, secondary and post-secondary teachers, as well as administrators. The links describe necessary training and the salary potential on the high, median and low ends.
Created in partnership with the Ohio Department of Education, the tool provides both students and others seeking career information with enhanced research and data analytics regarding occupations and a career path.
Within each cluster, occupations are color-coded by knowledge, abilities, education and experience requirements.
“We’re pleased to partner with the ODJFS to offer additional tools and resources that can help students and adults explore various career, education and training opportunities available throughout the state,” said Interim Superintendent of Public Instruction Stephanie Siddens. “Whether an individual is interested in going to college, getting a certificate or engaging in the workforce, career pathways can be customized for any ambition or plan.”
