Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Rise
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 13,287 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 2,025 more than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday morning.
State residents also filed 48,681 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of Dec. 18-24, which was 2,132 more than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 2,226 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In November, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.2%. The national unemployment rate was 3.7%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in November was 61.3%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.1%.
